Adobe Photoshop- Cartoon Vector Effect

Adobe Photoshop - Vector Art Effects
·         FAMILIARIZE THE WORKSPACE
 ·         Import image.
For this tutorial, you should import photo of people, or you could have your self portrait
·         Double click on the lock icon on the right side of background layer to unlock the layer
·         Change the layer name from layer 0 to ORIGINAL.
Double click on the layer name to change
·         Duplicate the layer
Right click on the layer then select duplicate layer from the options or drag the layer to the icon found at the bottom of the layers tab
·         Change the name of the duplicate layer from ORIGINAL copy to DUPLICATE
Double click on the layer name to change
So that if ever you’d mess up later on, you still have the original image intact.
·         Change the foreground color to black
·         Select the duplicate layer
·         In your menu bar: go to Filter; look for sketch then select stamp
If your image is too large, zoom out with the options found in the bottom of the preview.
·         Change the light/dark balance to – (range: 5-20)
·         Change the smoothness to – (range: 1-4)
·         Click Ok to apply the filter
·         Create new layer
Create new layer by clicking the create new layer icon at the bottom of the layers tab. You could also click on layer found in the menu bar; select new then click layer.
·         Change the name of the new layer from layer 1 to COLOR.
This will serve as a layer for adding color to the filtered layer.
·         Hide the visibility of your filtered layer
Hide the visibility by clicking the eye beside the layer
Hiding it would make the duplicate layer visible
·         Select the original layer
·         select the eyedropper tool in your tool bars
Eyedropper tool copies the color of one pixel from the selected area
·         Select on the skin facial skin color.
It is better to select on the brighter color of pixel among all
·         Click on the brush tool in your tool bars
·         Unhide the visibility of your filtered layer
Unhide by clicking the box beside the layer. Once the eye would appear mean it’s no longer hidden
·         Select the color layer
·         Change the diameter of your brush that best suit your needs.
To change, right click then another tab appears. You can change the diameter by moving the master diameter slider.
·         Change the hardness from 100% to 0%
·         Paint the face with the brush. Leave the eyes and mouth without color.
·         Once done, hide the visibility of your filtered layer
·         Select the original layer
·         Select the eyedropper tool in your tool bars
·         Select on the lip color.
·         Click on the brush tool in your tool bars
·         Unhide the visibility of your filtered layer
·         Select the color layer
·         Change the diameter of your brush that best suit your needs.
·         Paint the lips with the brush tool
·         Once done, hide the visibility of your filtered layer
·         Select the original layer
·         Select the eyedropper tool in your tool bars
·         Select on the eye lens color.
Select on the most abundant color of the lens
·         Click on the brush tool in your tool bars
·         Unhide the visibility of your filtered layer
·         Select the COLOR layer
·         Change the diameter of your brush that best suit your needs.
·         Paint the eye lens with the brush tool
If there’s anything else you wish to add color other than the face. Do so by following the same steps we had with the face, lips and eye lens.
·         Select on the color layer (should still be selected after painting the face picture with colors)
·         Change the blending color of the layer from original to multiply.
·         By the end of this activity, your workspace should be like this:
·         Right click on the ORIGINAL layer; then select flatten image from the options
This will merge all the layers into one layer
·         Save the image to JPEG format
